The seals are the same, however I just physically checked my bike ( sold wife's bike for a new bike upgrade) and my bike has the 36mm fork. That's the difference. However according to fox the grip2 upgrade is for fox 36 only. So the rhythm being a 34mm fork wont take that damper.

From what i've read a grip2 is pretty similar to grip but with more dials to adjust the tune so the upgrade will only help if its a tune thing. And you loose the ability to quickly adjust the fork for climbs. Grip was meant as a budget damper but it worked so well they decided to make a high end version.
