And while hydras do have very impressive engagement numbers, 54T on the DT swiss is giving you engagement very 6.6 degrees or so, which is still really tight. I have onyx on one bike and 54T 240s on another, and i do a good bit of tech climbing. I feel no worse on the 54T.
